Being a student in middle of a lockdown
This was a small interview we had with a student in college,we were interested in the life and situation they are passing through during this pandemic.
Hoping you may learn something from it.
How did you experience things when you learned that you should stay quarantined for several weeks?
With great sadness! I got really involved on campus this year and it dramatically reduced my day-to-day activities and a lot of the events and actions that we had planned. And above all, in my region, it is my second family, it is strange not to see for so long all those we used to meet every day! The best part is about my lectures, where I especially saw the opportunity to immerse myself in it a little more.
How did you organize yourself in an emergency, to ret urn to your parents or to go to your place of lockdown ?
I actually did it in two stages. Firstly, returned as soon as the lockdown was announced, but following the second announcement of the extension of the quarantine period, I still returned to my accommodation and took over the few essential business allowing me to work in the best conditions at home.
Around you, how have your friends reacted, the other students you meet in class?
In the same way… sadness! We really had a hard time getting used to it. To compensate, we call each other almost every day!
Well,Concerning the lessons, we wonder a little about the very practical lessons, but more often we consider that this is an opportunity to keep up the pace in the group work to be returned.
How is your daily life in lockdown ?
I made a schedule. It was high time that I got up to date with my studies! I also take this opportunity to get ahead of some work because the deadlines may fall at the same time, and this could interfere with the completion of my thesis. The hardest ? Get used to working online. I had to get used to it as I went through my studies, but I'm still a fan of paper and all the little notes I can write in the margins.
How do you manage to "get some fresh air" or change your mind during lockdown/quarantine ?
Nothing like a little walk, or a little Wolfy online with friends!
How are the distance learning courses going?
I have a special year. So I have very few lessons and a lot of homework. In this case, the course I am currently taking is going incredibly well. For work, the teachers made themselves much more available than normal.
Do you have any anecdotes about your life in quarantine ?
A member of my family takes advantage of the lockdown to make cakes … It will become urgent to get back to sport!😂
Do you have a "thank you" or a "tip of the hat" to give, and if so to whom?
I sincerely thank some of the lecturers, who were caught off guard like the students by the situation, and who were quick to react and adapt. It is a real pleasure to see that for them, teaching is a real vocation ... And obviously, a huge THANK YOU to the medical staff, to the actors in the shadows and everyday life that we sometimes forget like supermarket staff and because it concerns me particularly, all the researchers as well as the volunteers who lend a hand in research!
Do you have any tips and tricks that you put in place in your daily life that you would like to share with the other students?
Surviving and keeping a balance, I advocate good planning and good friends to call each other and play board games online!
Thank you for reading it to the end!
With great, great Love again
