My weapon : my positivity & faith
“Growing up with reproaches on her heels.”
Bernice NISHIMWE was born on a beautiful April 3rd. At her tender age, she suffered internally. This suffering was not other than the overweight which bothered some malicious people towards her.
"At your age you should be playing outside and not staying cloistered in front of the TV!" Or "you should be ashamed of your size!" They told her. There’s nothing else she could do other than staying in front of the TV? She got tired far too quickly compared to other kids when they were playing. Her safest place was to stay in her corner, there she was not afraid.
With 5’4.7” at 12 years old and 98kg it's not what was called being in good shape. The risks of illness associated with this weight outdoors are fatal and family history stated that most of her family bore the brunt of it.
“I’ve put myself on a diet, decided to eat less and hop! My weight started dropping in no time”.
Bernice said to herself that the best way to remedy would be to start a plastic diet in order to obtain satisfactory results. Between eating less, balancing, and not eating at all, her draconian( excessively harsh and severe) diet was far from a success. She lost very little without saying that she sometimes gave up wrestling out of sheer disappointment. She did it to stop the mockery in her eyes, but unfortunately not for herself. Just being a teenager and carrying extra pounds knowing that her girlfriends have sizes smaller or smaller didn't make it any easier.
“Awareness gave her back a taste for life”..
It was back in 2018, on the verge of depression, with 115kg, that she decided to put herself on a challenge and get rid of the unhealthy food/things in her life. After moving in on her own, she stuffed herself with more positivity because she had to fight for herself and her health in particular.
She rushed to play sports and eat healthy. She learned about the content of each food and knew how to deprive herself of what was close to fat.
After some toil, her appearance had changed considerably. According to her, what helps her the most is the fact that she has stopped brooding(engaged in or showing deep thought about something that makes one sad, angry, or worried) .
Today, at 69kg, she feels good about herself and continues to exercise while watching what she eats.
But more importantly, now she uses her social media platform to share a lot about her journey and inspire people through her page on Instagram.
So after reading this go quickly find her page, trust me you’ll feel inspired to learn how to love and take your body with respect to whatever your size .
“Don't let your mind bully your body ...
Yes, you are beautiful! and yes, you can do better!“
With great great, great Love
